Hopefully Sean works on his strength and takes Travis Konecny under his wing in the one season they`ll both be on the same team. The 67`s could really use a goaltender.

WJHC and a late-season trade to a contender would be a pretty big year.

It's a conundrum for sure. On one hand, you want to make sure he develops correctly, but on the other hand, this guy will sell Tickets.

Depending how the Ticket sales go, it will have a big impact on their decision with Monahan.

If I had to put money on it, this kid is playing a full season with the Flames.

hahahaha nice one!

The Flames rank 8th in ALL OF PRO SPORTS for consecutive sell-outs at 335. Only Vancouver and T.O. rank ahead of them as far as the NHL is concerned.

I think they will be ok.

Now politely GFY brahhhhh

EDIT: this was as of last year, and they sold out every game last season too.

I think you'd be surprised....but your right, the sea won't be as RED this season

Either way, Sean Monohan isn't needed. The team has more than enough money to burn.

It won't Calgary is a town with lots of money to burn Edmonton has been filling the rink for years no problem.

If they keep Monahan up for a reason as rediculous as selling tickets fire the whole management team.

Calgary needs to get the max potential out of the kid. Nine games up WJC and a dominant year in the O. If it were my call it wouldn't matter how great he plays he ain't staying.

I still say it serves little purpose to play him more than his allowed 9 games. We're not pushing for PO so whybburn a year on bis contract and risk damaging his development.

Its too bad that the AHL doesn't allow some special status exemptions for players ready to make the jump to pro but maybe not the NHL. Although the issue is on the CHL side i guess.

I don't buy the "hurt his development" argument anymore. Either the guy will learn to play in the NHL or he won't. Simple as that in my opinion.

this! Let him dominate in the O and give him time to develop and fill out his frame

Nugent-Hopkins' shoulder agrees with this statement.

There's a difference between getting hurt and hurting his development.

Obviously if a player isn't physically (size, strength) ready to play in the NHL he shouldn't. But I don't think that is a concern with Monohan.

This isn't Jersey dude. The Flames are the only big ticket in town and there is a growjng excitement about the nes kids and not necessarily on Monohan. Knight, Brodie, Sven and the goal tending situation is creating a lot of buzz.

CGY will be fine.

ya i dont think his physical attributes are an issue.

And mentally. The kid played on a team where he was left to carry the load after all the stars left...i'm sure iggy could relate. The fact that he performed on a frustrating team like that is a great trait to have on a rebuilding team.

They don't need to push him, but if he's ready. I don't see it being an issue in his development. He might end up playing with GlenX/stemper. Or Baert/jones. Just don't play him on the 4th

Stajan will need to be shopped pretty soon if he makes it, I think Knight would be a better 4th

I personally don't see it being an issue for them to drop him back if he falters. Look at what happened last year with Sven, they gave him every opportunity to succeed in a top 6 forward position at the begining of the shortened season. He had some great jump early on a line with Backlund and tons of chances including lots of posts etc. In the first 10 games his confidence dropped and he didn't put up the points the team was probably expecting so they sent him back to the Heat for some conditioning/cofidence building. Likely the same scenario will play out this season with Monahan. Give him the chance and let him make the decision, if he needs more time to adjust and isn't quite hitting set benchmarks management will send him down (Ala Mark Scheifele with the jets). If he blows people out of the water or seems to jell and work with the team then why not let him stay up and burn that first year contract. Personally I hope he impresses and stays with the club. I bet the top 5 picks before him don't get demoted so why should he?

He's about the same size as Galchenyuk... So does that mean he should go down to the minors and fill out too?

I would of preferred Gally go down to the minors for the year though he did play pretty well
Mohanan has pretty decent size at 6'1 190lbs but a player with his style, I would much rather have come in the league at over 200lbs so he can impose himself physically from the start
